Spectacular view from Monte Generoso

We have compiled our 14 favorite activities for you here. You will find extensive documentation describing these and other experiences in the house.

1.       Mulino di Bruzella - preferably hike from the house to the Tiro restaurant (collect chestnuts on the way), eat brasato & polenta there, then hike to Bruzella, down to the Mulino and then back a little to the turn-off to Casima (note: very steep in certain places) back to Monte and eat the chestnuts you have collected yourself for dinner (for people who like to hike for a long time).

2.      Museo del Territorio - The Museum of the Valle di Muggio explains the old traditions of the valley. It is best to visit at the beginning of your stay, then you will discover many historical objects on your hikes.

3.      Hike up Monte Generoso (spring or fall, as it is exposed - particularly beautiful with a northerly foehn for good visibility)

4.      Greenway walk along the lake of Como with fantastic views (spring or fall, as there is little shade)

5.      Stroll through Como, eat pizza and lots of pasticceria (confectionery)

6.      Hike through the Gole della Breggia, possibly with a visit to the red church (frescoes) or, for the brave, a very cold dip in the Breggia

7.      Swimming in the Melide bathing area with the fun park in the water (summer)

8.     Meride hike with lunch in the Grotto Grassi incl. boccia match, visit to the excavation sites, the Arzo quarry or the fossil museum (summer, as it is shady)

9.      Swimming in Porto Ceresio, in our opinion the world's best gelati and eating a pizza for dinner (summer)

10.  Stroll through Lugano, possibly Foxtrail (without Foxtrail it can also be combined with #13)

11.   Croce hike from the house to the Croce and Dosso dell'Ora with lunch in the Alpe di Caviano or in the Dosso dell'Ora

12.  Carona hike with a stop at Alpe Vicania

13.  Boat trip from Lugano to Gandria and walk back to Lugano

14.  Foxtown - shopping in a superlative outlet shopping center

As you can see, there is a lot to see and discover in the region of southern Ticino and northern Italy with many atmospheres of rural, urban, Italian flair, spectacular nature, fantastic views and refreshing lakes.
